Creating a folder definition

You define a standard set of behaviors and properties for folder in folder definitions.

To create a folder definition:

In the Manage Structure Designer, select the folder structure template for which you want to create a folder hierarchy.
On the Folders page, if any folder definitions already exist, select an existing folder definition for which you want to create a subfolder. If there are no existing folder definitions, proceed with step 3.
Click on the New Property tool button . A new folder definition is added to the Folders list.
Select the new folder definition and click the Edit Properties tool button if it is not already activated.
Enter or select options using the descriptions in the following table.

Option	Description
DeleteOptions	Select from the list of available options to specify when folders made from this definition may be deleted by users.
Inherited	Select True to cause the folders that are created from this definition to inherit the IntelliProperty values of their parent folders. Specify the name of the IntelliProperty to inherit by creating an IntelliProperty and setting its PropertyID to PropertyID and adding the name of the LabelDefinition member to inherit from to its Value collection. For more information on creating IntelliProperties, see Creating an IntelliProperty definition. Note Inherited property values are supported only for FileNet Panagon and not supported by FileNet Content Services libraries.
IntelliProperties	Click the button to display the Collection Editor to add or remove the IntelliProperties associated with this folder definition as described in Creating an IntelliProperty definition. These properties are shown to users as required string data type properties. To define more advanced properties, create them on the Properties tab as described in Creating a property definition. Note Inherited property values are supported only for FileNet Panagon and not supported by FileNet Content Services libraries.
LabelDefinition	Click the button to display the Collection Editor to add or remove the user-selectable labels associated with this folder definition as described in Creating folder labels.
LookupInDMS	Select True to…
LookupInDMSLabel	Enter…
Name	A unique descriptive name for the folder definition, not the name of the folders created by this folder definition.
Optional	Select True to…
Permissions	Click the button to display the Collection Editor to add or remove the permissions associated with this folder definition as described in Creating folder permissions.
PermissionsMergeType	Select from the list of available options to specify how the permissions assigned to existing folders should be merged with the permissions assigned to this folder definition.

Repeat steps 2 to 5 for each folder that you want to create in the folder structure template.
Click the Save tool button to save your changes.
